Thesis defense of Zhor KHADIR, PhD student in the Biophotonics group, on 29 March 2022 at 2pm in the Amphi of the Institut d'Optique in Palaiseau, and by videoconference for those who are interested, on the topic: "Study of the interactions between microstructured substrates and endothelial cells for the development of a plasmonic biosensor for the early diagnosis of pathological conditions".
Abstract: "The integrity of the vascular endothelium depends on the cohesion of the endothelial cells that constitute the cell monolayer. This cohesion is reinforced by endothelial junctions mainly composed of VE-cadherins. Quantifying the integrity of this cell layer is particularly important in the study and diagnosis of pathological conditions associated with inflammatory stress and exposure to bacterial toxins such as sepsis. Based on the association of these inflammatory conditions with a loss of vascular endothelial integrity, we propose in this project the development and validation of new generation plasmonic microarrays, with the aim of generating normalised cell layer models in vitro, in order to quantify, in real time and without labelling, the integrity of the endothelial barrier. This PhD was carried out in cotutelle between the Institut d'optique Graduate School Paris-Saclay at LCF (Palaiseau, FR) and the University of Sherbrooke at LN2 (3IT and IPS)."
