PhD students' seminar given by Gaétan Hercé from the Quantum gases group, on 27 January 2022 at 1.15pm in the auditorium of the Institut d'Optique in Palaiseau, on the topic: "Momentum space correlations in the depletion of an interacting Bose-Einstein condensate " .
Abstract: "Correlations are a powerful tool to characterize a gas of N interacting quantum particles, and in particular a Bose-Einstein condensate. In this system, the interactions decrease the condensed fraction by promulgating atoms outside the condensate. At weak interactions, this non-condensed fraction appears as pairs of atoms with opposite momenta and thus has specific correlations in the momentum space. At stronger interactions, the microscopic state of the non-condensed fraction is predicted to change, and the correlations should also allow us to follow this evolution."
