Doctoral students' seminar given by Clément Riasse, from the Nanophotonics group, on 13 January 2022 at 1.15 pm by videoconference, on the topic: "Subwavelength structuration for thermal imaging".

Abstract: "As their pixel pitch is decreasing, thermal imaging matrices require more performant optical systems, which are also more expensive, to increase the incident flux on each pixel without degrading the gain in MTF of the focal plan.

In this context metasurfaces are an asset to limit the cost of the total optical system while enhancing achromatically its performances. They are fabricated using low cost collective processes from the microelectronics industry, especially the Silicon technology, transparent in the LWIR band (8-14µm) of interest for uncooled infrared imaging.

One of the objectives of the thesis is to demonstrate the possibility to use metasurfaces to correct the geometrical aberrations of a lens over the whole LWIR band."
